I grew up in Switzerland and Sweden and have lived most of my adult life in New York City, where I became deeply involved in the art world, visiting museums and galleries, and absorbing art from different periods and cultures with great passion.

As a self-taught artist, I chose not to attend art school because I wanted my work to develop independently and to find my own way. While growing up in Zurich, I attended a Rudolf Steiner school where art was an important part of the curriculum and encouraged creativity from a young age.

In my early years in Zurich, I was part of the artist and fashion community and active in the women's liberation movement and the struggle for equal rights. Throughout my life I have traveled extensively, experiencing diverse cultures, histories, and visual worlds that continue to influence my work.

Nature is a constant source of inspiration. Its endless manifestations, colors, shapes, and complexities  move me. From northern landscapes to deserts, time spent in different natural environments continues to excite me and find its way into my work, even when not directly represented.

My interest lies in exploring forms of representation that are not confined by conventional artistic language or techniques. My visual language is one of continual invention. The resulting work becomes a direct expression of my imagination, drawing on ideas, observations, and experiences, that gradually develop into visual worlds.

Working primarily in oil and watercolor crayons, I do not begin with a fixed narrative. The artworks emerge from spontaneous gestures and develop through a process of defining and refining - a way of bringing forth the image. The challenge is to preserve the energy and impulse of the original inspiration while translating it into a work that engages the viewer. 

While thinking about ideas is a big part of my life, the artworks are not conceived as their direct illustrations. Rather, reflection, observation and continual learning are absorbed into the painting process, where they re-emerge in visual form. Instead of illustrating a fixed narrative, my paintings grow from questions of history, humanity, and the present. Ultimately, I hope the artworks bring pleasure, spark curiosity, and offer a continuing sense of discovery to those who live with them.
